Evaluation Capacity Tune-Up
Coaching and review to improve your data storytelling

Purpose
Most nonprofits have some level of evaluation practice. However, we often hear they wish it was streamlined or their data isn’t helping them tell their story. We often see poor data quality and an enormous amount of qualitative data that isn’t being used.
In other words, their existing evaluation learning system needs some fine tuning and maybe a new engine to measure outcomes and analyze the data.
The Evaluation Capacity Tune-Up reviews current evaluation practices and systems, then recommends feasible changes to improve data quality and streamline processes. It includes five hours of coaching to help set up a new system.

What We Do
Outcome Studio will review existing:
-
Data collection instruments and data collection practices/systems
-
Data management and reporting practices/systems, and data governance
-
Storytelling and stakeholder engagement practices|
-
Data visualization efforts and needs
-
Practices for using data for program improvement, strategic planning, grant writing, board engagement and donor cultivation
The review will be a collaborative process, engaging you in identifying your evaluation goals, the primary challenge you want addressed and how you want to use your data in the future. Based on the review and collaboration, we’ll make recommendations for streamlining and improvement based on your goals.

Coaching
We’ll provide 5 hours of coaching to support you in setting up and running your new evaluation system. Coaching can include technical support for:
-
Designing and setting up new survey instruments and data collection systems
-
Setting up data management and reporting systems
-
Reviewing and rolling out revised data governance policies
-
Data visualization best practices and techniques, including online resources
-
Storytelling with your data and stakeholder engagement

What You Do
As a collaborator, you will:
-
Complete a short survey to share your goals, current systems that you use, biggest challenge, primary stakeholder, and what you are currently doing for evaluation
-
Share existing data collection instruments---surveys and any ways you are collecting qualitative data
-
Map your current data collection practices and reporting on a Journey Map
-
Meet once or twice over Zoom and be available via email to clarify and test the review
-
Set up coaching hours once the review is completed and recommendations are made
Most of this work is conducted over Zoom. Office visits can be scheduled to view existing systems if you think that will be beneficial. Travel costs will be added to the flat rate of the Tune-Up.
